Trost Claims BBC Championship Crown
The Buffalo Bicycling Club took to Delevan, NY for the 2010 Club Championship Weekend. On Saturday's 1/2/3 race, hard tempo and attacks scattered the field. Lance Johnson (Handlebars) claimed the club championship honors after breaking away with Jim Doan of Hollyloft. Peart Street's Ken Thomas just missed the podium with a solid 4th place finish, with teammate Mike Cormier claiming 7th.
Sunday's 4/5 race witnessed an early attack by Pearl Streeters Adam Trost and Craig Polston. The pair were chased hard by Ingram Micro riders Tony Hoffman, Scott Farrell, and David Hawkes. However the trio was unable to get enough help from fellow chasers, and Trost and Polston were able to keep their distance. Sensing the field had weakened, Pearl Street teammates Vince Lorenz and Ben Barnhardt attacked on the final climb of the day and bridged up to the breakaway. The four rode the remaining 3 miles together, with Trost's gutty effort resulting in a Club Championship.
